The Umarex Origin is one of the most prolific entry level PCPs in the US market. It has been a common request for us to design a Tactical Conversion Kit for it ever since we came out with our Avenger kit. We’ve finally delivered. I think. I mean, I really like it and I hope you do too. The AR platform has a huge ecosystem of parts on the market and this kit was developed to take advantage of that while meeting the demand for aftermarket parts. This listing is for the Grip Adapter and Handguard only. We also sell all the other parts needed to complete the build, or you can bring your own. The other parts are listed below.
The grip adapter is made in Texas, USA from commercial-grade PA12 Fused Nylon. It allows for the use of many AR style grips with or without a beavertail (some grips may have features that make them incompatible). There are two choices for grips in this kit. Choose from either black or FDE Milspec A2 grips. All of these are made in the USA. If you need a grip for large hands you may need to add an aftermarket grip from a company like ErgoAIR or a Magpul K2 XL grip. Both are compatible with this adapter. The grip adapter comes with a dust cover for your Origin fill port.
The handguard is 3d printed in ASA at my home in Texas, USA. There are MLok slots at the 3, 6, and 9 o clock positions. It works great for mounting a bipod, flashlight, or laser. I chose MLok slots over pic rails because the MLok handguard is smoother and more comfortable in the hand. The fitment will be tight. It may require some fitting to get is right for your airgun. I figured folks would rather it be a little on the tight side rather than the alternative.
Another option is to not mount a handguard at all and use only our Avenger/Origin Barrel band or the OEM barrel band. I’ll likely make a pic rail attachment for the OEM barrel band if folks are interested in that. The advantage would be the weight and cost reduction.
Another feature of the grip adapter is that it accepts AR/M4 extension tubes. I recommend the UTG AR308 extension tube listed below. This will allow you to mount a Milspec adjustable buttstock to your Origin. The LOP with an AR308 extension tube and Magpul MOE buttstock is 11 to 14-1/4 inches. You can get a little longer or shorter LOP by screwing the tube in further or less. The LOP range is 1 inch less for the AR15 extension tube.
